Your Spring-to-Summer Planning Guide

Ah, springtime! For us working moms, this season of transition has us juggling school events, spring sports, and somehow—somehow—we’re also expected to plan an entire summer. If you're anything like me, this season demands a game plan and a go-to wardrobe that keeps up.
Let’s talk about all things family rhythm and what Quinnessentials pieces will carry you through it all.
Family Planning: Nope, Not That Kind
No really—plan the summer season that’s just around the corner now with your family. This sounds so basic, but setting aside a time for a real-deal family meeting can make all the difference.
Put it on the calendar.
Write it out.
Tell everyone ahead of time what you’ll be talking about, so no one walks in clueless.
Say something like: “We’re going to talk about what we want to do this summer. Dad and I will throw out a few ideas, and I want you to think about what you're interested in—anything that excites you.”
It sounds easy, but this is actually a delicate conversation. Kids may not even know what they’re interested in yet. Or maybe money’s tight and you’re trying to keep expectations realistic. Either way, you need to create space for honesty.
Create a Safe Space (Yes, Even for Your Partner)
Here’s a truth bomb from the salon: if a guest doesn’t feel safe being honest during their consultation, they’ll agree to bangs they never even wanted. Bangs, people.
That same dynamic can play out at home.
If your tone is too sharp or dismissive, your kids (or your partner) might just nod along instead of speaking their truth. Especially if they’re easy going by nature. They’ll say yes to that overnight baseball camp—until you freak out about the $2,000 price tag, forgetting you just bought your teen a car or Dad just drove home in a truck that costs more than your wedding.
It’s not about guilt. It’s about being mindful. Create a space where everyone can speak freely.
Listen. Stay calm. And mindfully budget once you’ve got all the cards on the table. 😉
Set the Tradition, Keep the Tradition
Want your 25-year-old to still come on that family camping trip? Then be consistent now.
Make it a yearly thing. Such as the third week of June. Like clockwork. Because if you commit to it, they’ll commit, too—even in adulthood.
Those traditions won’t happen unless you take ownership of creating them, keeping them, and reinforcing them year after year. And trust me, the payoff is big.
Take Your Closet From Chaotic to Chic
Now, let’s pivot. Literally. To your closet. Because this time of year is also about dressing for everything: early-morning Target runs, your son’s track meet, your daughter’s soccer game, plus dinner with friends.
Let me introduce you to my not-so-secret weapon: cat suits. I know. Sounds bold.
This might be a little TMI—but hey, we’re all friends here. Sometimes I wear bodysuits (or cat suits) not just for fashion, but to help keep my eating in check.
Meal planning off weeks and on weeks. Ahem….I’m not out here meal-planning like a pro, but wearing something fitted makes me more aware of my portions throughout the day. It’s not punishment—it’s just… accountability. If I’ve got a body suit on, I’m probably skipping the second helping of pizza. And yes, bathroom breaks are strategic. 😂
Hear me out:
-
Black, sage green, and burgundy—chef’s kiss.
-
Wear them solo, or throw on a chunky sweater and an oversized blazer.
-
They’re comfy, flattering, and surprisingly versatile.
I also love our new olive leggings which have a unique waist detail. Pair them with the Sherpa coat (the one with the front tie—that subtle but impactful detail makes it feel luxe and current), and you’re effortlessly stylish. Think way more elevated than that $9.99 Target Sherpa from three years ago.
Travel Sets & Monochrome Magic
You know what else screams "I’ve got my life together" even when you don’t? Monochromatic looks.
We’ve got these gorgeous travel sets, one in black, one in beige—not white, but a warm, chic cream that pairs beautifully with our oversized beige blazer and travel backpack. Quiet luxury vibes, all the way.
This look says “I own the business,” even if you’re just running errands. Seriously, wear the black version and see how people sit up straighter when you walk in.
Channel Your Inner Icon
You know that iconic look—oversized sweatshirt on top, athletic shorts underneath? Princess Diana nailed the balance of casual and chic. Cindy Crawford, too. It’s timeless, classy, and shock-free. You can pull up a photo of either one from 20 years ago and still say: wow, they look amazing.
That’s what we’re going for. Classic. Effortless. Thoughtful. Whether it’s planning your family’s summer, locking in those yearly traditions, or simply elevating your wardrobe in a way that feels good—this season is about intentional transitions.
So gather the family. Speak honestly. Wear the cat suit. And hey, it’s okay to want both comfort and quiet luxury. Let me know what you're adding to your spring lineup—wardrobe or otherwise—by sending me an Instagram DM @quinn.vise!
