Fall Into Winter: What’s In, What’s Out

Fall Into Winter: What’s In, What’s Out

As we roll into October, take stock of this season’s fashion and beauty trends. Fall-winter fashion brings texture, layering, and a few unexpected surprises. Here’s what’s catching my eye now!

Fashion Trends to Watch

Two piece dresses, textured tights, and anything tweed or wool are having a big moment.

Monochromatic looks are still strong, but this time with freedom of shade variations—pieces don’t need to be a perfect color match. Think burgundy satin with a fuzzy sweater in the same color family, or baby blue paired with wine red. Stunnnnnninnngggg!! Even burnt orange with deep wine works beautifully if you’re willing to try it.

Textured pants are calling: leather or faux leather trousers, rather than leggings. Oversized blazers remain versatile staples, while satin-lined hats and chic scarves add polish. And yes, the Canadian tuxedo is back. A denim-on-denim look feels fresh when the washes are slightly different, especially as you’ve likely seen it styled on Pinterest. No matter where you’re finding that info, you can own it. Get your inspiration whenever and however, you can; I’ve curated a Pinterest board here full of ideas.

Tips for Trying New Looks

If you’re hesitant with trends, remember these three tips:

  1. Stay curious and willing to try.

  2. Use visuals—Pinterest boards help turn “maybe” into “yes.”

  3. Don’t overlook your local thrift store; fall textures like wool, suede, and oversized blazers are waiting there.

Beauty & Hair Updates

As a salon owner, I’ve got a finger on the pulse of beauty trends. Let it be known: rollers are back. Velcro or hot rollers, bringing voluminous, body-rich sets into play again. Pair this with a confident side part for lift (flat hair is out).

For makeup, the pendulum has swung toward the “naked face”: clean skin, soft lashes, more natural brows, and nude lips. Think classic “old money” Ralph Lauren or J.Crew—timeless and fresh.

The season’s biggest message? Mix textures, be willing to play. Fashion and beauty are in their most fun, exploratory phase yet. Try the unexpected pairing, dig into your closet—or the thrift store—and let yourself be surprised. (Nobody tattle on me, but I’m going for my husband’s tailored dress shirts.)

QE Favorites for Fall

Some standout pieces from QE right now: the suede blazer (always a win), the versatile unitard (with endless styling options), a textured crochet-look dress in cream and black, and the brown-and-cream floral sweater that screams fall. These pieces layer seamlessly and give you on-trend options without overthinking. You can find them right here!
